Preparation, Characterization, and Evaluation of the Biological Activity of the New Ligand a Type of Schiff Bases Derived from 2- Mercptobenzoaxazole and its Complexes with some Metal Ions

Abstract

A new series complexes of the ligand 2-[2-(Benzoxazol-2-ylamino)- phenylimino]-1,2diphenyl-ethanol (BAPIPE) (L) have been synthesized by the reaction of the ligand (BAPIPE) with metals chlorides of, Co (II), Cu (II), Zn (II), Cd (II), and Pt (IV) in ethanol as a solvent. The new ligand (BAPIPE)was prepared for the two steps. The first step preparation compound (A) N-Benzooxazol-2yl-benzene-1,2diamine) was prepared from the reaction 2-Mercaptobenzoxazole in ethanol solvent with O-Phenelyene diamine. The other step preparation the ligand (BAPIPE) from the reaction of compound (A) with benzoin. The structures of the ligand and its complexes were confirmed by FT-IR, H1-C13-NMR and UV- Vis. spectra , molar conductivity, melting points, elemental analyses(CHN), atomic absorption and magnetic susceptibility measurements, and FESEM.The synthesized complexes were prepared in (1:2) ratio to correspond to Co(II), Cu(II) and Pt (IV) complexes while in case Zn(II) and Cd(II) complexes are (1:1) ratio (M: L). These measurements suggested octahedral geometry for the Co (II), Cu (II) Pt (IV) Complexes, and tetrahedral geometry for the Zn (II) and Cd (II) complexes.
